Indian Minister Visits Kathmandu to Inquire About Injured Citizens in Tanahu Bus Accident

India’s Minister of State for Youth and Sports, Raksha Nikhil Khadse, arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday to check on the health of Indian citizens injured in a tragic bus accident that occurred in Ainapahra of Aanbookhaireni-4, Tanahu, on Friday.

The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu confirmed that Minister Khadse visited Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) in Maharajganj, where she was briefed on the condition of the injured passengers. The accident involved a bus (registration number UP 53 FT 7623) traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu, which plunged 200 meters off the road into the Masryangdi River.

According to police reports, 16 injured passengers are currently receiving treatment at TUTH. They were airlifted to Kathmandu on Friday by a Nepal Army helicopter. The bus was carrying a total of 43 people at the time of the accident.

Meanwhile, the bodies of those who lost their lives in the accident underwent postmortem examinations at Bharatpur Hospital in Chitwan. Chief District Officer of Chitwan, Indradev Yadav, stated that the bodies would be sent back to India following the completion of the postmortem procedures.

The tragic incident claimed the lives of 27 people, as confirmed by local authorities.
