Landslide in Shailung Kills Six, Leaves Four Missing; Bridge Washed Away

A landslide in Shailung Rural Municipality-3, Doramba, on Saturday night claimed six lives and left four others missing. The victims include Chandika Shrestha, 30, her 18-month-old son Ayush, Urmila Pahari, 57, Sandeep Pahari, 30, Santosh Pahari, 11, and Bigyan Pahari, 14, according to the District Police Office. An 11-year-old, Anjana Shrestha, was injured in the incident.

Rescue and search operations involving locals, police, and Nepal Army personnel commenced immediately. The landslide also destroyed three houses and washed away a bridge over the Andheri rivulet, affecting the area between wards 2 and 3.
