PM KP Sharma Oli Awards National Women Volleyball Team for CAVA League Success

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli awarded the national women’s volleyball players, coaches, and support staff for their outstanding performance in the CAVA Women’s Volleyball National League. The ceremony was held today at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

PM Oli presented prizes to 14 players of the National Women Volleyball Team, including captain Aruna Shahi, chief coach Jagadish Prasad Bhatta, assistant coach Bharat Yadav, manager Nilam Singh Bajracharya, and physiotherapist Lokendra Kunwar. Each player received Rs 300,000, while the chief coach was awarded Rs 200,000. The assistant coach, manager, and physiotherapist each received Rs 120,000.

The Nepali team secured the first runner-up position in the league, which was held in Kathmandu from August 1-7. The awards, totaling Rs 4.76 million, were decided by a cabinet meeting on August 15.

Expressing his happiness over the team’s success, Prime Minister Oli encouraged the players to continue striving for greater achievements. He assured the government’s support in providing the necessary environment and infrastructure for regular practice and future competitions. “Go with high morale till the end; we will win wherever we go,” he emphasized.

PM Oli also reiterated his commitment to upgrading the Kirtipur Play Ground within 300 days, a decision he made on his first day in office. He urged stakeholders to prepare well for the upcoming 10th National Games.

Minister for Youth and Sports, Tejulal Chaudhary, commended those who contributed to the development of women’s volleyball in Nepal. He emphasized the need for the government to prioritize sports in its policies. Secretary at the Ministry, Sumanraj Aryal, praised the team’s performance despite limited resources, while National Sports Council member-secretary Tankalal Ghishing acknowledged the government’s efforts to promote sports. Nepal Volleyball Association general secretary Roshan Shrestha expressed hope that a covered hall would be built as per the Prime Minister’s commitments.

Captain Aruna Shahi, speaking on behalf of the team, expressed gratitude for the recognition and promised to work harder to promote Nepal’s identity through sports.

Myagde Delegation Presents Charter of Demands to PM

In a separate event, a delegation of youths from Myagde rural municipality in Tanahu met with Prime Minister Oli to present a charter of demands focused on development projects. The delegation requested the construction of a cemented bridge over the Seti River, the establishment of a cultural museum, and budget allocations for a cricket field and a landfill site.

Prime Minister Oli assured the delegation that he would consult with relevant ministers to address their demands, according to CPN (UML) Myagde village committee secretary Sandip Ranabhat.
