Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli Launches Nepal’s First Hydrogen Car

In a historic move for Nepal’s automotive and environmental sectors, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today officially launched the country’s first hydrogen-powered car and its accompanying refueling system. The ceremony took place at Kathmandu University in Dhulikhel, Kavre, just before the university’s 29th convocation.

The hydrogen car, a Hyundai model manufactured in South Korea, was procured by Kathmandu University with financial support from Nepal Oil Corporation. The total cost of the vehicle was 33,000 USD. This marks a significant step towards introducing sustainable and eco-friendly transportation alternatives in Nepal.

During the launch, Prime Minister Oli emphasized the environmental benefits of hydrogen-powered vehicles. He noted that the adoption of hydrogen technology could play a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions and combating pollution in the country.

This initiative by Kathmandu University and the government represents a forward-thinking approach to addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable energy solutions in Nepal. The introduction of hydrogen technology is expected to pave the way for further advancements in green energy and eco-friendly transportation within the nation.
