Adverse Weather Disrupts Domestic and International Flights Across Nepal

Domestic flights across Nepal have been significantly affected due to adverse weather conditions, with continuous rainfall leading to poor visibility. The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu reported disruptions in both domestic and international flights on Sunday.

According to Jagannath Niraula, General Manager of TIA, international flights, including one from Air China, have been diverted, and several others have faced delays due to the deteriorating weather conditions.

The situation has also impacted regional airports. Pokhara, Bharatpur, and Simara Airports were closed until noon due to the same visibility issues. Only flights operating under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) were allowed to continue.

At Pokhara Airport, where visibility was particularly poor, only two flights between Pokhara and Kathmandu were conducted. Dipendra Kumar Karna, Information Officer for Buddha Air, confirmed that regional flights to and from Bharatpur, Pokhara, and Nepalgunj were also disrupted due to the unfavorable weather.

Additionally, the flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar was canceled, according to TIA sources. The ongoing weather issues are expected to continue affecting flight schedules until conditions improve.
