Nepal Stock Exchange Continues to Decline for Fifth Straight Day, Index Falls to 2632.94 Points
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NESPE) continued its downward trend for the fifth consecutive trading day, with the index falling by 13.09 points to close at 2632.94 points today. On the third trading day of the week, the market saw a total turnover of Rs 7.25 billion from the trading of 19,077,583 shares across 328 scrips, with 93,459 transactions recorded.
Today’s turnover marked the lowest in the past two months. The sensitive index, which reflects the performance of blue-chip stocks, dropped by 1.80 points, while the float index decreased by 0.91 points.
The trading group was the only sector to see an increase, rising by 0.79%, while all other sub-indices experienced declines. The banking group decreased by 0.11%, Development Bank by 0.69%, Finance by 0.99%, Hydropower by 0.71%, Investment by 0.53%, Life Insurance by 0.76%, Manufacturing and Processing by 0.68%, Microfinance by 0.91%, Non-Life Insurance by 0.40%, and Other groups by 0.44%.
During today’s trading, a positive circuit breaker was applied to Manushi Microfinance, while Siddhartha Investment Growth Scheme-3 saw the steepest decline, losing 8.82%. The Hydro Electricity Investment and Development Company Limited led in both transaction amount and number of shares traded, with a total of 1,664,085 shares of the company’s promoter stock being traded, amounting to Rs. 298.15 million.
