Domestic Flights Disrupted by Inclement Weather, Two Flights Diverted

Domestic flights across Nepal were largely disrupted today due to adverse weather conditions, according to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) officials. While some flights following visual flight rules (VFR) were still operating at TIA, services to Biratnagar, Simara, and other locations outside the Kathmandu Valley were heavily affected.

Rinji Sherpa, spokesperson for TIA, confirmed that two flights were diverted due to bad “en route weather.” A Yeti Airlines flight bound for Simara had to return to Kathmandu after reaching Simara’s airspace, as poor visibility prevented it from landing. Another Yeti Airlines flight headed to Biratnagar also returned to Kathmandu for the same reason.

Additionally, no mountain flights were conducted today as the weather was deemed unsuitable for such operations, airlines confirmed. Despite these disruptions, Sherpa noted that international flights were unaffected and have been operating normally.

Passengers traveling domestically are advised to stay updated on flight schedules as delays and cancellations may continue if the weather conditions persist.
