Panchkhal Mayor Mahesh Kharel Donates Three Years’ Salary for Disaster Relief

Mayor of Panchkhal Municipality, Mahesh Kharel, has announced that he will donate Rs 1.5 million, comprising his three years’ worth of remuneration and allowances, to aid survivors of recent floods and landslides in Kavrepalanchowk district. The contribution will be deposited in the local-level relief fund to support recovery efforts.
The recent disasters in the district resulted in significant loss of life, with the latest reports confirming 77 deaths—33 females, 28 males, nine boys, and seven girls—alongside 75 injuries. While Panchkhal has been less affected compared to other areas, Mayor Kharel emphasized the importance of extending relief to those hardest hit by the catastrophe.
