A consignment of 4.2 tonnes of emergency relief materials was handed over to Nepal’s Chief District Officer of Banke, Mr. Khagendra Prasad Rijal, by India’s Second Secretary, Shri Narayan Singh. This aid package, sent by the Government of India, aims to support families affected by recent floods and landslides in Nepal.
The consignment includes essential items such as tarpaulins, sleeping bags, blankets, chlorine tablets, and bottled water, all transported to Nepalgunj from India. The Indian government has also pledged to send additional hygiene products, medicines, and other relief supplies in the coming days.
India continues its role as a First Responder in crises within its region. Notably, after Nepal’s 2015 earthquake, India launched Operation Maitri, its largest international disaster relief effort. India also extended help after the Jajarkot earthquake in November 2023.
In the wake of the current floods and landslides, India remains committed to providing ongoing support to the Government of Nepal.
