World Cup 2022: Selected teams for Quarter-finals
The World Cup last 16 is complete, and the quarter-finals in Qatar are just around the corner and that – usually – is when the competition really starts to heat up.
The Netherlands became the first team to qualify for the quarter-final stage courtesy of a 3-1 win against the USA at the Khalifa International Stadium.
In yesterday’s match, Morocco became only the fourth African country to reach the quarterfinals at the biggest soccer tournament in the world by beating Spain 3-0 in a penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw through extra time.
Likewise, Portugal won the match 6-1 and advanced to the quarterfinals for the third time, with Gonçalo Ramos showing that he has the goods to stand in for Cristiano Ronaldo, scoring a hat trick.
Croatia, Brazil, Netherlands, Argentina, Morocco, Portugal, England, and France have qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2022 Quarterfinal stage, starting December 9.
The four winners will then progress to the semifinals, starting December 14.
