Opposition Parties Join Forces to Submit Memorandum to Government
The opposition parties, including the CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and CPN (Unified Socialist), among others, have decided to submit a joint memorandum to the government, raising various contemporary issues of public concern.
During a meeting held at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor today, the leaders of the opposition parties agreed to present their collective demands to the government. Rajendra Pandey, a leader of the CPN (Unified Socialist), shared that the memorandum will address several pressing matters affecting the public.
The meeting was called by CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. The opposition parties plan to highlight key issues such as the government’s preparedness for landslides and floods, as well as the search, rescue, treatment, and rehabilitation of disaster-affected individuals.
Shakti Bahadur Basnet, a leader of the CPN (Maoist Centre), stated that discussions during the meeting focused on multiple contemporary issues. He added, “Consensus has been reached to bring these concerns to the government’s attention through a memorandum from the opposition parties.”
Notable leaders in attendance included CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal, leaders Mahantha Thakur and Prabhu Sah, RSP Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane, Vice-Chairpersons DP Aryal and Swarnim Wagle, and leaders Shisir Khanal, Sumana Shrestha, and Biraj Bhakta Shrestha.
The joint effort reflects growing unity among the opposition parties as they seek to influence the government’s response to urgent national concerns.
