CPN (UML) Seeks Clarification from Three Leaders Over Statements on Party Office Construction

The Central Secretariat of the CPN (UML) has decided to seek clarification from three senior party leaders for publicly speaking against the party’s decision regarding the construction of its central office building. The decision was made during a meeting held on Sunday, according to CPN (UML) General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel.

Pokhrel confirmed that former Vice-Chairman Bhim Rawal, Standing Committee Member Binda Pandey, and Central Committee Member Usha Kiran Timilsina were asked to explain their recent public statements, which criticized the party’s stance on the building project.

“The clarification was sought from these leaders for their comments opposing the party’s decision,” Pokhrel said, emphasizing that such dissenting views needed to be addressed within the party structure.

On the Arrest of RSP President Rabi Lamichhane

Pokhrel also responded to questions regarding the recent arrest of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane. He clarified that the investigation into alleged misappropriation within cooperative organizations, conducted by a parliamentary committee, had been forwarded to the relevant authorities for further action.

“The party’s stance is clear: the decision should align with the ongoing investigation,” Pokhrel stated, urging Lamichhane to cooperate with government agencies as they proceed with the inquiry.

No Conflict of Interest in Land Donation

Addressing concerns about the land donation received by the UML for its central office construction, Pokhrel asserted that there was no conflict of interest involved. “The assistance provided for the construction of the UML office should be viewed in a natural and straightforward manner,” he remarked, defending the party’s acceptance of the donation.

The meeting of the UML’s Central Secretariat highlights the party’s effort to maintain internal discipline while addressing external concerns about its practices and decisions.
