Nepal Holds Export Promotion Discussion at Embassy in Abu Dhabi

A discussion program on export promotion was held last Thursday at the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi, in line with the current government’s focus on import substitution and export promotion. The event was organized as part of Nepal’s broader strategy to boost trade relations and enhance exports.

Commitment to Strengthening Trade Relations

During the program, Tej Bahadur Chhetri, Nepal’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), emphasized the embassy’s ongoing efforts to strengthen trade relations between Nepal and the UAE. He reaffirmed the embassy’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s economic diplomacy and contributing to the country’s vision of becoming a prosperous nation through enhanced export trade.

Focus on Reducing Trade Deficit

The discussion saw participation from a delegation of Nepali businesspersons, representatives from the Non-Resident Nepalese Association (NRNA) UAE, Nepal Business Council UAE, and UAE-based businesspersons. The key topic of the meeting was addressing the trade deficit between Nepal and the UAE, with a particular focus on strategies to facilitate the entry of Nepali products into the UAE market.

Participants discussed the legal and policy measures required to overcome challenges and promote Nepali exports to the UAE.

Nepal’s Participation in Middle East Expo

In a related development, Nepal took part in the Middle East Organic and Natural Product Expo in Dubai from November 17 to 20, marking Nepal’s first-ever participation in the event, which has been held for the past 22 years.

A total of 12 stalls showcasing Nepal’s organic and natural products were set up at the Expo, with support from the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Nepal Export Traders Association. This participation highlighted Nepal’s growing presence in the global organic market and efforts to promote its sustainable exports to international buyers.

The event served as an important platform for networking, expanding market access, and fostering deeper trade ties between Nepal and the UAE.
