Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi Visits Muktinath Temple and Nepal Army’s Western Division Headquarters
The Chief of Army Staff of India, General Upendra Dwivedi, currently on an official visit to Nepal, performed worship at the revered Muktinath Temple in Mustang on Saturday.
According to the Nepal Army Directorate of Public Relations and Information, General Dwivedi visited the popular pilgrimage site, offering prayers at the temple, which holds significance for both Hindus and Buddhists from Nepal and India. The Muktinath region sees thousands of Indian visitors annually, emphasizing the deep spiritual connection shared between the two nations.
Following his pilgrimage, General Dwivedi visited the Nepal Army’s Western Division Headquarters in Pokhara, where he was warmly received by Division Commander Major General Santosh Ballabh Poudyal.
General Dwivedi arrived in Nepal on Wednesday at the invitation of the Nepal Army. As part of the visit, President Ramchandra Paudel conferred on him the honorary rank of General of the Nepal Army during a special ceremony on Thursday, continuing the longstanding tradition of mutual respect between the armed forces of Nepal and India.
The visit further reinforces the historical and cultural ties between the two neighboring nations, alongside fostering ongoing military cooperation.
