Indian Army Chief Concludes Official Visit to Nepal
General Upendra Dwivedi, PVSM, AVSM, Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army, concluded his five-day official visit to Nepal today, marking a significant step in fostering military ties between the two nations. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Sunita Dwivedi.
The couple was bid farewell at Tribhuvan International Airport by Major General Prem Dhoj Adhikari, Head of the Department of Military Operations, Nepali Army, and his wife. General Dwivedi had arrived in Nepal on November 20 at the invitation of Nepali Army Chief of Army Staff, General Ashok Raj Sigdel.
During his stay, General Dwivedi was conferred the honorary rank of General of the Nepali Army by President Ram Chandra Poudel, a tradition underscoring the longstanding camaraderie between the Indian and Nepali militaries. He also paid courtesy calls to the President, Prime Minister, Defense Minister, and his counterpart, General Sigdel.
As part of his itinerary, General Dwivedi visited the Army Command and Staff College in Shivapuri and the Western Division Headquarters in Pokhara. Additionally, he participated in cultural and spiritual engagements, including prayers at the revered Muktinath temple in Mustang and a scenic mountain flight showcasing Nepal’s majestic peaks.
The Nepali Army expressed optimism that such high-level exchanges will further strengthen the enduring friendship and collaboration between the two armies and their respective countries.
