Kaski District Court Extends Detention of Rabi Lamichhane for 15 Days
The Kaski District Court has granted the police an additional 15 days to keep Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane in custody for further investigation into charges of cooperative fraud and organized crime.
Lamichhane, a former Home Minister, was presented before the court earlier today. Court Information Officer Suraj Adhikari confirmed that the decision was made by District Court Judge Himlal Belbase.
This extension follows an earlier 13-day detention approved on November 10, which expired on Friday. Lamichhane was initially arrested in Kathmandu on October 18 and has been in custody ever since as police pursue their investigation.
Lamichhane, a prominent political figure and leader of the RSP, has been under scrutiny in connection with allegations involving fraudulent activities linked to cooperatives. The case has drawn significant public and media attention, given Lamichhane’s influential role in Nepali politics.
Further updates on the investigation are awaited as the case progresses under police custody.
