Lumbini Province Pledges Support for Gautam Buddha International Airport’s Sustainable Operation

Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya has reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to bolstering the operation of Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) through streamlined public service delivery and investment promotion.

Speaking at an interaction program titled “Sustainable Operation, Investment, and Possibilities of Gautam Buddha International Airport”, Chief Minister Acharya outlined the government’s efforts to facilitate key procedural services, including visa issuance, labor permit approvals, and health checkups, to ensure the airport operates efficiently.

Push for Federal Collaboration

Acharya urged the Federal Government to grant the province necessary authority over procedural services tied to international flights, emphasizing the significant opportunities GBIA offers to the local community and businesses.

He assured stakeholders of the province’s readiness to amend restrictive laws hindering investment and promised to create an investment-friendly environment. “The operation of GBIA has opened new doors for economic growth, and we encourage investors to move forward with confidence,” he said.

Tourism Circuit Plans

Highlighting GBIA’s potential to boost tourism in the region, Acharya announced plans to develop a Lumbini Tourism Circuit for visitors, promoting Lumbini as a global pilgrimage and tourist destination.

Business Community Optimistic

Entrepreneurs and business leaders attending the event, jointly organized by Nepal Chamber Lumbini and other organizations, expressed optimism about Lumbini’s tourism and economic prospects following the start of international flights at GBIA.

The Chief Minister’s statements come amid growing calls for enhanced provincial and federal coordination to maximize the airport’s role as a gateway to economic and tourism development in the region.
