The CPN (Maoist Centre) has described its performance in the recent local-level by-elections as “exciting,” asserting that the results lay a foundation for the party to contest future elections independently.
A meeting of the party’s office-bearers, held at Party Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’s residence in Khumaltar on Thursday, reviewed the by-election outcomes. Party Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota highlighted the party’s achievements, noting victories in Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality of Rukum East, Sarkegad Rural Municipality of Humla, and several wards, along with significant popular votes.
“This result reflects growing public trust in the Maoist Centre and marks a significant achievement,” Sapkota remarked. He also stated that the by-election outcomes reinforce the potential for greater leftist unification and the reconstitution of the communist movement.
The party has scheduled a Standing Committee meeting on December 12, followed by a Central Committee meeting to thoroughly review the results and chart future strategies.
Additionally, the meeting emphasized the need to strengthen local-level party conferences and vigilance assemblies. Central leaders will be deployed at the grassroots level to enhance these initiatives.
The Maoist Centre’s performance is being seen as a significant boost to its political positioning, with leaders optimistic about its ability to operate independently in upcoming elections.
