Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck paid homage at Swoyambhunath and Boudhanath, two of Nepal’s most revered UNESCO World Heritage Sites, during his brief transit in Kathmandu today.

At Swoyambhunath, the monarch was received by office-bearers of the Swoyambhu Management and Preservation Committee. He spent about half an hour at the site, observing the Kathmandu Valley from its iconic premises and engaging in worship rituals.

Following his visit to Swoyambhunath, King Jigme Khesar traveled to Boudhanath, where he also offered homage.

The Bhutanese king arrived in Kathmandu earlier today from India and is scheduled to return to Bhutan later this evening, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
