US Assistant Secretary Donald Lu Concludes Two-Day Visit to Nepal
The United States Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, has concluded his two-day visit to Nepal, emphasizing bilateral cooperation and shared priorities.
During his visit, Lu held discussions with prominent leaders, including Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel. Talks focused on strengthening bilateral economic cooperation and addressing mutual interests.
Lu participated in the ceremonial kickoff of the Gender Equity and Equality Action Grant alongside the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). He also engaged with the US Youth Council, underlining the importance of youth participation in sustainable development.
In Bhaktapur, Lu explored Nepal’s rich cultural heritage, praising its role as a pillar of Nepal’s national identity and a significant contributor to tourism and the economy.
The US Embassy in Nepal described Lu’s visit as “dynamic and impactful,” reinforcing progress in sustainable development, gender equality, and community empowerment. His visit underscored the United States’ continued commitment to fostering a strong partnership with Nepal.
