The Dryport Customs Office in Sirsiya, Birgunj, has reported a decline in revenue collection during the first five months of the current fiscal year compared to the same period last year.
The office collected Rs 19.78 billion, which accounts for only 32.94 percent of its annual revenue target. This marks a decrease from the Rs 21.04 billion collected during the corresponding period last fiscal year.
Office Chief Dhan Bahadur Baruwal attributed the decline primarily to a reduction in exports of foreign goods. The highest monthly collection was recorded in Asoj (September-October), with Rs 4.36 billion, while the lowest was in Mangsir (November-December), amounting to Rs 3.22 billion.
The shortfall underscores ongoing challenges in meeting revenue targets, with officials citing shifts in trade patterns as a key factor.
