Nepali Diplomats and Officers Attend 1st Special Training Programme in India
A delegation of twenty-six Nepali diplomats and officers from ten key Ministries and Departments of the Government of Nepal participated in the 1st Special Training Programme for Nepali diplomats and officers from November 20 to 30, 2024, held at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), Ministry of External Affairs, in New Delhi, India.
The delegation represented various government sectors, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Ministry of Urban Development, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and the Department of Railways.
The comprehensive training covered diverse and essential topics, including global geopolitical and geo-economic issues, economic diplomacy, India-Nepal relations, shared cultural heritage, Digital Public Infrastructure, and Responsible AI.
Additionally, participants engaged in field visits to significant Indian institutions, such as Rashtrapati Bhawan, the DAKSHIN – Global South Centre of Excellence, India’s National Disaster Management Authority, and the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya. Cultural and touristic visits to Varanasi, Sarnath, and Ayodhya were also included as part of the programme.
At the conclusion of the programme, the group had the opportunity to meet with Naveen Srivastava, Ambassador of India to Nepal, for an interaction and debriefing session. During this session, Ambassador Srivastava sought feedback from the participants, aiming to gather insights on how India could assist in designing future training courses tailored to the needs of Nepali diplomats and officers.
This training programme is a reflection of the ongoing commitment to strengthen institutional exchanges between India and Nepal and highlights the close bilateral relationship between the two countries.
The programme aims to enhance cooperation and understanding of shared interests, fostering a more collaborative approach to addressing both countries’ strategic and developmental priorities.
