Kathmandu Metropolitan City Completes 43 Infrastructure Projects in Five Months
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has successfully completed 43 infrastructure projects in the first five months of the current fiscal year, which began on July 16. Among the accomplishments, the metropolis asphalted a total of 37.30 kilometers of roads.
Under various road development initiatives, KMC constructed 8.40 kilometers of roads under its Regular Road Repair Programme, 10.20 kilometers under the Infrastructure Ambulance Programme, 9.40 kilometers under the Dust-free Road Programme, and 9.30 kilometers under the Carry-over Programme.
During the Budget Formulation Committee meeting held on Friday, KMC Public Works Department Chief Suraj Shakya provided updates on the ongoing and completed infrastructure projects. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol.
In addition to road blacktopping, Shakya reported that 5.80 kilometers of roads were reinforced with RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete), drains were built along 1.16 kilometers of roads, and slabs were installed over 2,070 square meters of road areas.
According to the Public Works Department, the city invested approximately NPR 880 million in public works during this period.
The KMC’s infrastructure projects aim to improve road conditions, reduce dust pollution, and enhance urban mobility, contributing to better living standards for Kathmandu residents.
