Janakpur Bolts Wins Rs 11 Million as NPL Champions
Janakpur Bolts, the winner of the inaugural Nepal Premier League (NPL) T20 Cricket Tournament, has been awarded Rs 11 million in cash along with the championship trophy.
The team clinched the title with a thrilling five-wicket victory over Sudurpaschim Royals in the final match.
In a prize distribution ceremony held after the final, former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, former Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ and Chairman of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Chatur Bahadur Chand jointly presented the bank cheque for Rs 11 million to Janakpur Bolts’ captain Ashif Sheikh and cricketer Anil Shah.
Minister for Youth and Sports, Tejulal Chaudhary, awarded the first runner-up prize of Rs 5.1 million to Sudurpaschim Royals.
The second runner-up, Karnali Yaks, received Rs 2.5 million, and the fourth-place prize of Rs 1.5 million was awarded to Chitwan Rhinos. Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and Chief Minister of Madhes Province, Satish Kumar Singh, handed over the cheques to the respective teams.
The successful conclusion of the NPL season has set a new standard for domestic cricket in Nepal, with substantial rewards for top teams and a thrilling competition that captured the attention of cricket fans across the country.
