Five Nepalis Rescued from Myanmar’s Myawaddy Region
The Nepali Embassy in Thailand has successfully rescued five Nepali nationals from Myawaddy, a conflict-prone region in Myanmar. Among those rescued, four men were repatriated to Nepal last week with assistance from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and other non-governmental organizations. A woman was sent back to Nepal on Tuesday, according to the Embassy.
In a statement, the Embassy urged Nepali citizens to adhere to official government procedures when seeking employment abroad. It cautioned against being misled by unauthorized manpower agencies offering fraudulent job opportunities in countries like Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand.
The Embassy reiterated the importance of obtaining proper labor permits to ensure safety and compliance with international employment standards. This rescue operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Nepali government to protect its citizens from exploitation abroad.
