Former Supreme Court Justice Prakash Wasti Passes Away at 71

Former Justice of the Supreme Court, Prakash Wasti, passed away last evening at the age of 71. He had been admitted to Norvic Hospital in Thapathali following a cardiac arrest and breathed his last while undergoing treatment.

According to his younger brother, advocate Gajendra Wasti, the late Justice’s body is currently being kept at the hospital. His son, Dr. Prabin Wasti, who is currently in the United States, is expected to arrive in Nepal by Sunday morning. The family plans to conduct the final rites at Pashupati Aryaghat after his arrival.

Justice Wasti is survived by his spouse, one son, and three daughters. He served as an Additional Justice at the Supreme Court for six years and later as a Member of the National Human Rights Commission for another six years.

Known for his dedication to the legal field, Justice Wasti began his legal career in 2033 BS, becoming a senior advocate in 2065 BS. He was an avid reader and researcher, contributing significantly to the development of Nepal’s legal system. His work included studies and publications on corruption control, civil law, and the advancement of the judicial system.

Born on Asar 8, 2010 BS, Justice Wasti authored numerous books and was a respected figure in Nepal’s legal and judicial circles. His passing marks a significant loss to the legal community.
