FM Deuba Seeks Qatar’s Help for Bipin Joshi’s Release

Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has urged Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al Muraikhi, to assist in securing the release of Nepali youth Bipin Joshi, who was abducted by Hamas in October 2023.

During their meeting on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat, they discussed Nepal-Qatar relations, scholarships for Nepali students, and employment opportunities for skilled Nepali workers in Qatar.

Minister Deuba commended Qatar’s mediation efforts in the Israel-Hamas ceasefire talks and called for a special initiative to ensure Bipin’s safe return. She had previously made a similar request in a phone call with Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, Qatar’s chief negotiator in the peace process.

The Nepali government continues its diplomatic efforts through the United Nations, international platforms, and bilateral discussions to secure Bipin’s release.
