NC office bearers’ meeting underway

The office bearers’ meeting of the Nepali Congress (NC) is underway at Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar.

The meeting is to finalize the names of the proportional representation (PR) candidates to be sent to the House of Representatives.

The meeting is discussing the recently-concluded general election, Proportional Representation (PR) candidates, among other issues.

NC had fielded candidates in 91 constituencies under the first-past-the-post category.

The party has become the largest party by winning 57 seats.

Since only one female candidate has been elected under the first-past-the-post system, most of the policymakers to be sent under the proportional representation category will be female members.

The candidates who had been in the closed PR list submitted to the Election Commission earlier are not allowed to join today’s meeting.
