
Indian NCC Chief Visits Nepal to Boost Youth and Military Cooperation

Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, Director General of India’s National Cadet Corps (NCC), arrived in Nepal on February 23, 2025, to take part in the 262nd Raising Day celebrations of the Nepali Army. He was accompanied by an officer and received a warm welcome at Tribhuvan International Airport by representatives from the Defence Wing of the Indian Embassy and the Nepali Army.
During his visit, Lieutenant General Singh met with Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on February 24, where he stressed the need for deeper youth engagement between the two nations. He also held discussions with Nepal’s Defence Minister Manbir Rai, focusing on enhancing military cooperation and strengthening bilateral relations.
On February 25, the Indian NCC chief paid a courtesy call on Nepal’s President Ram Chandra Paudel at Shital Niwas. Their conversation revolved around expanding the Youth Exchange Program (YEP) and furthering collaboration between the young cadets of both countries.
Lieutenant General Singh also met with India’s Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, to explore ways to intensify youth-focused initiatives and deepen people-to-people ties.
The visit underscores the enduring defense and cultural ties between Nepal and India, reaffirming the commitment of both nations to fostering strong relations, particularly among their younger generations.
