DPM Lamichhane asks police personnel to focus on performance

Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane has made it clear that the police officials should not visit any power centre for getting leadership opportunity.

During a meeting with the Deputy Inspect Generals of Nepal Police (DIGs), who are recently transferred as the Chief of Province Police, the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister said that the leadership of Nepali Police would be selected based on the personnel’s efficiency and performance.

Lamichhane also said that the province chiefs of police should discharge their duty with high morale.

On the occasion, Minister Lamichhane claimed that the police officers’ role and responsibility was shifted based on their performance in the organization and without any political interventions.

Those DIGs were transferred on January 12 from the minister-level decision.

The Home Minister directed the officials to work for people’s interests without any political prejudice and bias, while asking the police officials to always stand for victims.

He directed the police personnel to remain firm on rule of law and serve as the friends of citizens without working under duress from any of the side.

Capable ones would be given better opportunity in the organization but undue pressure from political and power centres would be rejected, according to the Home Minister.

Likewise, the Home Minister asked the DIGs to uphold the trust that the organization has earned by maintaining law and order, crime control and curbing revenue leakage.
