UML’s Devraj Ghimire elected as HoR Speaker

Devraj Ghimire, leader of ruling CPN-UML, is now the official Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR).
Ghimire was elected as the HoR Speaker on Thursday.
During the voting held in parliament to elect new HoR Speaker today, Ghimire got 167 votes while his rival candidate NC’s Ishwari Neupane got 100 votes.
A total of 267 lawmakers were present in parliament. One lawmaker chose to not vote in favor of any of the two candidates.
Ghimire was elected as a Member of the HoR from Jhapa Constituency-2 in the election held on November 20 .
