Dr. Min Bahadur Shrestha appointed National Planning Commission vice-chairperson

Dr Min Bahadur Shrestha has been appointed the Vice-Chairperson of National Planning Commission (NPC).

A meeting of the Council of Ministers today appointed Dr Shrestha on the post.

NPC Chair and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ administered the newly appointed Vice-Chair an oath of office and secrecy today itself at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar, according to Prime Minister’s press expert Manohari Timilsina.

In former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s term, economist Biswo Poudel led the commission, but he resigned early to contest the general elections on behalf of the Nepali Congress party.

Shrestha is the former Executive Director of Nepal Rastra Bank.

This is the second term of Shrestha as the Vice Chair of NPC.He led the planning commission during Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s previous term also.
