Police raid duplicate liquor factory, stores
Police have arrested three persons for producing and selling duplicate alcohol.
A team of police deployed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office and a team from Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality-1 Kupandole, arrested them, including the owner, on Sunday.Niraj Upreti, a permanent resident of Kalinchowk Rural Municipality 3, in Dolakha, Dharmi Gaudel, a permanent resident of Galyang Municipality 9 in Syangja, and Ganesh Bahadur Ranamagar, a 26-year-old resident of Tinpatan Rural Municipality 2 in Sindhuli, were arrested during a raid at the Next Taste Liquor Store running in Kupandole and its factory in Tikathali, Mahalaxmi Municipality-5, Lalitpur.
Among the arrestees, Gaudel was running another fake liquor store named ST Liquor Store at Mitranagar in Kathmandu. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the Office Dr. Manoj KC, police investigation found that they were selling fake alcohol under the name of various domestic and foreign brands of alcohol.
According to the police, it has been revealed that duplicate liquor is being sold at a lower rate than the market price of genuine liquor through the local stores.
Police said that Binod Karki, Gopal Pun Magar and Gaurav Tamang were absconding for the crime of making and black-mar-keting duplicate liquors of various domestic and foreign brands. Police recovered six bottles of duplicate Golden Oak, 48 bot-tles of 8848 Vodka, 420 bottles of Mughlan, 30 bottles of 2020 Aphal, 92 bottles of Khukuri Rum and 132 bottles of Ruslan.
