Rana’s demise irreparable loss to country: Governor Adhikari
Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), Maha Prasad Adhikari, has said demise of the first NRB Governor, Himalaya Shushmer Rana, has caused an irreparable loss to country.
Paying tribute to the late Rana at Rana Niwas, Thapathali, Governor Adhikari said, “The demise of Rana has made a huge loss to the overall economy and banking sector of the country. This sector has lost a guardian.”
Adhikari recalled that Rana also worked as a finance-secretary of the country as well as Nepal’s representative in the United Nations.
Late Rana had outstanding contribution to launch a campaign of operating Nepali single currency by establishing bank in order to address significant issues related to country’s sovereign.
Rana, Founder of the central bank, passed away this morning in course of treatment at Thapathali-based Norvic International Hospital. He,95, was suffering from pneumonia.
