Activist Iih Meets PM Prachanda, Presents Demands for Informal Sector Management

A team, including social activist Iih, who embarked on a foot journey from Lumbini to Singha Durbar to advocate for street business and informal sector management, met Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

On the 10th day of the walk, there was a planned route from Kalanki to Singha Durbar, aiming to reach the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers to submit a memorandum.

However, they were redirected to Baluwatar as Monday was a holiday for Democracy Day.

Subsequently, the police escorted Iih, Saurabh Neupane (Chau), Yujanraj Bhandari, Raksha Bam, Sujan Giri, and others to Baluwatar, the PM’s official residence.

In Baluwatar, Iih met with Prime Minister Prachanda and presented a five-page demand letter. The letter outlined the current state of roadside trade, the government’s constitutional, legal, and policy commitments at various levels, their requests for specific initiatives from the government, and concerns regarding sustainable solutions.

Following the presentation of the demand letter, Prime Minister Prachanda expressed his openness to the demands.

Iih commenced his walk from Lumbini on February 11th.

Prior to this, he had staged a protest by standing in front of Kathmandu and Lalitpur metropolises, demanding that the pre-election promises be fulfilled.
