Actor Allu Arjun Arrested Over Stampede at Pushpa 2 Premiere
Popular Telugu film actor Allu Arjun has been arrested in connection with a stampede at the premiere of his movie Pushpa 2 on December 4 in Hyderabad, which resulted in the death of a 39-year-old woman and left her son critically injured.
The Chikkadpally police station registered a case against Arjun, the management of Sandhya Theatre, and the actor’s security team, citing lack of prior intimation about the film team’s presence at the event.
Allu Arjun was taken into custody on Friday by a police team from Chikkadpally. He is expected to be presented before a magistrate later today.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Zone), Akshansh Yadav, earlier stated, “A case has been filed under BNS Section 105 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118(1) r/w 3(5) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt). Stringent action will be taken against those responsible for the chaotic situation that led to the loss of life and injuries.”
The actor had approached the Telangana High Court seeking to have his name cleared from the FIR, but the hearing is pending. Meanwhile, the owner of Sandhya Theatre and two employees have already been arrested.
The incident occurred during the premiere event of Pushpa 2, where a massive crowd gathered, overwhelming security arrangements. The resulting stampede caused tragic casualties, leading to public and legal scrutiny of the event’s organization.
