Ambassador Adhikari explores business opportunities in Sialkot
Nepal’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Tapas Adhikari, recently visited the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) to explore potential business collaborations between Nepal and Pakistan. During his visit, Ambassador Adhikari engaged in discussions with Abdul Gafoor Malik, President of SCCI, and other executive members.
Renowned businessman and Chairman of Ashraf Group of Companies, Ijaz Khokhar, hosted the ambassador at his residence, where he provided insights into Sialkot’s potential across various industries.
Ambassador Adhikari commended the entrepreneurial spirit of Sialkot’s business community, particularly in the fields of sports goods, surgical items, and kitchen cutlery production. He expressed interest in learning from Sialkot’s success and invited entrepreneurs from Sialkot to participate in Nepal’s upcoming Chamber Expo-2024 in March and Investment Summit in April 2024.
Highlighting the importance of economic engagement between Nepal and Pakistan, Ambassador Adhikari emphasized the mutual benefits that could arise from increased bilateral cooperation in trade and investment.
President Malik welcomed Ambassador Adhikari’s visit, underscoring the strong bilateral relations between Nepal and Pakistan. He stressed the need to further enhance economic ties and explore untapped opportunities for collaboration.
During his visit, Ambassador Adhikari also toured several manufacturing units in Sialkot, including FIFA World Cup football manufacturer ‘Forward’, surgical equipment manufacturer ‘Elmed’, and sports garment manufacturer ‘Rajco’. He lauded Sialkot’s status as an industrial hub, particularly its prowess in football manufacturing, which supplies a significant portion of global demand.
With Sialkot exporting $2.5 billion worth of goods annually, including 70% of the world’s footballs, Ambassador Adhikari sees immense potential for collaboration between Nepal and Sialkot. He encouraged further exchanges and partnerships to harness these opportunities for mutual prosperity.
