AmCham and CNI Ink MoU to Boost American Investment in Nepal

In a significant stride towards bolstering economic collaboration between Nepal and the United States, the American Chamber of Commerce Nepal (AmCham)  and the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) have formally sealed a strategic partnership through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

The MoU, inked to promote American investment and cooperation in Nepal, underscores the commitment of both organizations to collaborative efforts. The agreement outlines key initiatives, including the establishment of contact points for entrepreneurs from both nations, providing essential information for American investors eyeing opportunities in Nepal, advocating for policy reforms to align with mutual objectives, and orchestrating strategic activities to amplify American investments in the country.

Particular emphasis is placed on strengthening financial and non-financial services, with a spotlight on the Information Technology (IT) sector. This collaboration is poised to contribute significantly to the market’s growth.

The signing ceremony, a pivotal moment in Nepal’s economic landscape, unfolded at the Confederation of Nepalese Industries, featuring the presence of CNI President Rajesh Kumar Agrawal and AmCham President Nirmal Kaji Shrestha as signatories.

AmCham President Shrestha, during the program, underscored the positive impact of such collaboration on Nepal’s economic development. President Agrawal of CNI expressed his commitment to collaborative efforts, emphasizing that this partnership would pave the way for knowledge exchange, innovation, and global market competitiveness, attracting foreign investment and fostering industrial development within the country.

Established just two years ago, AmCham has actively spearheaded various programs and initiatives aimed at promoting American investment in Nepal. The signing of this MoU solidifies their dedication to fostering bilateral economic relations and facilitating the expansion of foreign investments, marking a pivotal moment in the journey towards economic growth and cooperation between the two nations.
