APF Urges Tourists to Remain Cautious on Trekking Routes Amid Heavy Snowfall

The Armed Police Force (APF) has issued a safety advisory urging tourists to exercise caution while traveling on trekking routes following heavy snowfall in the Chumanubri-1 Samdo area of Gorkha.

The region has experienced up to three feet of snow accumulation, making trekking routes challenging and hazardous. The APF’s Border Out Post (BOP) stationed at Samdo has been actively engaged in clearing snow to reopen the blocked paths, according to DSP Shailendra Thapa, the APF’s Joint Spokesperson.

The APF has established 10 BOPs along northern trekking routes, with plans to set up additional posts every 10 kilometers as part of its long-term strategy. These posts prioritize both border security and emergency rescue and relief operations.

The APF has advised travelers to remain vigilant in the Himalayan region and to contact the hotline number 1114 for emergencies or further assistance.
