
Asian Open Chess Tournament begins in Hetauda


A regional-level chess competition commenced in Hetauda today.
A total of 86 players from Nepal, India, Bangladesh and Sri-Lanka are taking part in ‘Hetauda Cup Asian Open Chess Tournament-2023’ to conclude on December 3.
The first prize of the Championship is Rs 125 thousands followed by Rs 75 thousands for the second prize and Rs 40 thousands for the third position. Likewise, Rs 25 thousands and Rs 20 thousands will be given for the consolation prizes.
According to Nepal Chess Association, Makwanpur district chair Manoj Shrestha, cash prizes will be given to those players securing the positions within the top ten.
As he said, 38 players will receive cash prizes on different categories. It is expected to cost Rs 6.2 million to organise the tournament.
It was inaugurated by Suryalal Bhandari, the member- secretary of Sports Development Council, Bagamati Province.
