Bagmati Chief Minister Rajendra Pandey has resigned from his position on Friday following public criticisms against him for sticking to the position even after winning a seat in the federal House of Representatives.
After taking the oath of federal parliament on Thursday, Pandey had turned to be in two posts at the same time: the chief minister of Bagmati province and HoR member.
Pandey reached the office of the provincial chief at Hetaunda-10 and submitted his resignation to the Province Chief Sharma.
Spokesperson for the Bagmati provincial government, Krishna Khanal, said that Pandey will serve as the head of the caretaker government until a new government is formed.
Pandey, who is also the Vice-Chairman of the CPN-Unified Socialist was elected a federal lawmaker from Dhading 1 in the November 20 elections. However, he had not resigned from the provincial government.
He is also the deputy leader of the Unified Socialist party in the House of Representatives.
