Balkumari Incident: CPN (Unified Socialist) Demands Transparency from Government
The CPN (Unified Socialist) has urged the government to make public the report of the probe commission established to investigate the Balkumari incident. In a secretariat meeting held on Thursday, the party emphasized the need for transparency surrounding the events of December 29, 2023.
The party’s central publicity department’s chief, Jagannath Khatiwada, disclosed that the meeting underscored the importance of reviewing the commission’s findings before making any decisions regarding the party’s involvement in the current government or the potential recall of Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prakash Jwala.
Following the tragic events in Balkumari, where two youths lost their lives in police gunfire during a demonstration against the Korean Language Test (KLT) exam, the Home Ministry established a three-member committee to investigate the incident.
Reports suggest that the party meeting extensively discussed various aspects of the country’s political landscape, including the government’s performance, the plight of usury victims, and the party’s commitment to upholding good governance.
As the nation awaits the findings of the commission, the CPN (Unified Socialist) reiterates its call for transparency and accountability, underscoring the significance of the report in guiding future actions and decisions.
