Bangladesh celebrates 55th Independence Day

Bangladesh celebrated its 55th Independence Day on Wednesday, with President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus paying tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War at the National Memorial in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka. The president and the chief adviser also delivered special messages to the nation to mark the occasion.
The day’s celebrations began at dawn with a 31-gun salute by a smartly turned-out contingent from the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force, while the bugles played the last post. Wearing the red and green of the Bangladeshi flag, people of all ages and walks of life gathered at the National Memorial to pay their respects to the war heroes.
In honor of the occasion, major roads and intersections in Dhaka and other cities were decorated with national flags and banners. The festive atmosphere reflected the deep patriotism and gratitude of the people toward those who fought for the country’s independence.
On March 26 every year, Bangladesh commemorates the country’s declaration of independence in 1971. This historic day marks the beginning of the nation’s struggle for freedom, which ultimately led to the birth of an independent Bangladesh.
The celebrations across the country served as a reminder of the sacrifices made during the Liberation War and the progress Bangladesh has achieved since gaining independence.
