Bharatpur Metropolitan City Commences Construction of Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium
Bharatpur Metropolitan City (BMC) has initiated the construction of the Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium at Bharatpur Metropolitan City-15. This significant project is being undertaken in collaboration with the province and federal governments.
Santosh Acharya, the head of the urban infrastructure department of the metropolitan city, reported that construction work has been accelerated, particularly focusing on stone soling under the parapet. Local construction materials are undergoing testing at the metropolitan city’s laboratory, with rods being sent to Kathmandu for further examination. “The technicians and employees of the construction company have already started working in the field,” Acharya stated.
Mayor Renu Dahal has urged the construction company and all relevant stakeholders to adhere to the project timeline, emphasizing the municipality’s commitment to providing all necessary support. To facilitate the construction process, Mayor Dahal announced that the BMC will establish an office at the construction site.
Engineer Jagannath Aryal, Deputy Director of the Metropolitan City, revealed that the stadium will feature a parapet with a seating capacity for 10,000 spectators. The total construction cost is estimated at Rs 755 million 91 thousand 189, with the project expected to be completed by 22 Push 2083 BS.
For the current fiscal year, the federal government has allocated a budget of Rs 250 million, while the BMC has earmarked Rs 480 million. Additionally, the Bagmati Province government has agreed to cover 70 percent of the total contract amount, ensuring that the project is adequately funded.
The completion of the Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium will mark a significant milestone in Bharatpur’s urban development, further enhancing the city’s infrastructure and sports facilities.
