
BIMSTEC Summit Commences in Bangkok

The sixth Summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) officially began today at Hotel Shangri-La, Bangkok, bringing together leaders from its seven member nations.
The summit opened with a group photo session of the attending heads of government, followed by discussions on key agenda items. Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, as the host, welcomed the high-level delegations.
Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, along with other BIMSTEC leaders, is scheduled to address the summit today. The event will also feature speeches from representatives of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Sri Lanka following the signing ceremony of the BIMSTEC Maritime Transport Cooperation Agreement.
The summit is expected to focus on enhancing regional connectivity, economic integration, and strengthening collaboration in key sectors among BIMSTEC member states.
