Budget Session of Federal Parliament Commences Today

The budget session of Nepal’s Federal Parliament is set to begin today, following a formal summons by President Ramchandra Paudel on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers. The session will convene at 1:00 PM this afternoon.

According to the schedule released by the Federal Parliament Secretariat, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, will open the session by informing lawmakers about the President’s summons and recent changes in the cabinet.

One of the key agendas for today includes Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat presenting a proposal on the Principle and Priorities of the Appropriation Bill, which will be opened for discussion among lawmakers.

Being the inaugural day of the session, leaders from various political parties will be allotted time to express their views based on party representation. The Prime Minister and UML Parliamentary Party Leader, KP Sharma Oli, is also expected to address the House, according to his personal secretariat.

This session will be crucial for the tabling of the government’s policy and programme for the upcoming fiscal year, as well as the presentation and debate of the annual national budget.
