Business Groups Condemn Tinkune Violence, Demand Compensation for Losses

Leading business organizations, including the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and the Federation of Nepali Industry and Entrepreneurship, have strongly condemned the violent incidents that erupted at Tinkune on Friday. Both organizations have urged the government to provide compensation for damages and take strict action against those responsible for the destruction.

In separate statements, the business groups acknowledged the democratic right to peaceful protest but emphasized that such demonstrations should not infringe on the rights of citizens and businesses. They expressed grave concern over the looting, arson, and attacks on private and public properties, warning that such actions negatively impact the economy.

“The loot, arson, and destruction of private property, along with the loss of human life, are deeply condemnable,” FNCCI stated.

Similarly, the Federation of Nepali Industry and Entrepreneurship called on all stakeholders to ensure a safe and stable environment for businesses to operate. The organization labeled Friday’s criminal activities in Tinkune and Koteshwor as deplorable and urged authorities to safeguard the business community.

Both federations also appealed to industrialists and entrepreneurs to unite in defending and strengthening the republic, urging the government to take decisive action against those who orchestrated the violence.
