Call to Develop Birgunj as Nepal’s Economic Capital

Prabhu Shah, Chair of the Aam Janata Party, has advocated for the transformation of Birgunj into Nepal’s economic capital, citing its strong industrial and trade activities.

Speaking at a press conference organized by the party on Monday, the House of Representatives (HoR) lawmaker emphasized that Birgunj possesses the economic potential to be formally recognized as the nation’s economic hub.

Shah stressed the need for greater collaboration between the government and private sector to drive economic growth. Highlighting the country’s rising internal and external debt, he underscored the urgency of policy reforms to promote and support domestic industries and factories.
