CAN Lifts Suspension on Sandeep Lamichhane Following Acquittal in Rape Case

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced the lifting of the suspension imposed on Sandeep Lamichhane. This decision comes in the wake of Lamichhane’s recent acquittal in a rape case by the Patan High Court.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, CAN stated that the suspension of Sandeep was deemed unwarranted in light of the court’s ruling. Consequently, Lamichhane is now eligible to participate in both domestic and international cricket activities, including the upcoming T20 World Cup.

The statement released by CAN emphasized the importance of adhering to legal proceedings and respecting the court’s decision. It reaffirmed Lamichhane’s innocence in the alleged rape case and reinstated him as a member of the Nepali national cricket team.

Sandeep Lamichhane had been under suspension by CAN following a guilty verdict in a rape case by the district court in Kathmandu. However, with the recent acquittal by the Patan High Court, CAN has swiftly rescinded the suspension, allowing Lamichhane to resume his cricketing career.

The Patan High Court confirmed Lamichhane’s acquittal in the rape case on Wednesday, further cementing his exoneration and paving the way for his return to the cricket field.
