Captain Rohit Assures Fans: “We’re Committed to Giving Them the Gift They Missed”

In an address to the passionate fans of Nepal cricket, captain Rohit Paudel expressed gratitude and determination following Nepal’s exit from the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 after a 21-run defeat to Bangladesh. Despite the disappointment of not advancing to the Super Eight stage, Paudel assured supporters that the team is committed to fulfilling their expectations in the future.

The young Nepalese team showed glimpses of their potential throughout the tournament, notably pushing South Africa to the brink in a closely contested match. Reflecting on the emotional reactions from fans after that game, Paudel acknowledged their unwavering support, noting, “I saw the video where they were crying after the match against South Africa. They are very passionate and loving.”

Paudel, who himself felt a tinge of disappointment at not delivering a breakthrough win, emphasized the team’s belief in their capabilities. “There are a lot of positives to take, especially the way we played against good teams in the Asia Cup and now in the World Cup,” he remarked optimistically. He highlighted the team’s strategic clarity and individual roles, affirming that with proper execution, Nepal can compete consistently on the global stage.

Despite finishing without a win in the group stage, Nepal’s bowling performances drew praise from Paudel, who recognized their resilience and skill throughout the tournament. Looking forward, he stressed the importance of regular opportunities against top cricketing nations to further develop and refine their game.

“As a team, there’s a lot of potential,” Paudel affirmed, pointing out that consistent exposure to higher-ranked teams like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka would accelerate their progress.
